The All-in-One Slider System: A Solution for Any Bathroom

When a person requires assistance in their bathroom to either shower or toilet, having the right assistive product can make all the difference. The spectrum of available products is vast, from simple bathing benches to mobile shower commode chairs (MSCC) and combination all-in-one commode/tub slider systems.

An all-in-one slider system consists of a commode chair and tub transfer system that connect via a bridge. There are stationary and rolling versions of the commode chair, depending on the client's needs. While the stationary commode chair is designed for a more independent user, the rolling commode chair can be used as a free-standing commode chair to complete a safe transfer within the client's bedroom and can be used freely over their toilet. It can then be connected via the provided bridge to the unit that sits inside the existing tub or shower, and the top portion of the chair easily slides over into the tub/shower to complete hygiene tasks. The bridge can be removed during showering to allow a curtain to be closed for privacy.

The all-in-one slider system allows a rolling commode chair to be used inside the tub or shower, despite the height of the tub wall or a threshold entering the shower. A small bathroom with a tub and toilet placed next to each other allows the commode chair to be used over the toilet and then can slider laterally over the tub wall into the bathtub efficiently and safely. Sometimes this decreases the need for renovation in the bathroom. It may be the piece of equipment that allows for a shower rather than a bed bath.

Nuprodx features multiple different options within this line of products. Not only can the sliding system orient in both a traditional side-facing direction to slide into the tub, but it can also orient in a rear-facing direction when sliding to accommodate a narrow shower door. These units have casters on the shower base side for maneuverability in the shower to face the shower head.

Additionally, there are multiple different commode designs to accommodate various user needs. There are tilt and non-tilt stationary and mobile chairs with the ability to accommodate bariatric clients. For pediatrics, there are mobile tilt-in-space all-in-one bath chairs with positioning supports available. There is even a travel option that is lightweight and folds for easy transport in a carrying case.

Ordering this product is easy. The first step is an assessment with the client to determine what is the most appropriate piece of equipment to meet their needs. Items to consider during this assessment include usability, accessibility of the home space, the level of needed support, and cost/funding. If the all-in-one slider system is the option that is selected, measurements need to be taken. Client measurements are similar to those taken during a wheelchair evaluation and can be taken in a seated position. Several measurements of the bathroom space are also needed. Photos of the bathroom space are also a plus, so that delivery is seamless.

An all-in-one slider system improves safety in and around the bathroom for all involved.
