Concord, ON; December 8, 2020 – Introducing the brand new QUICKIE Nitrum, Sunrise Medical's highly innovative rigid wheelchair that is unrivaled in terms of lightness, rigidity, adjustability, and functional options. Lightest in it class, Nitrum is precision-engineered to efficiently convert energy into motion, allowing the user to propel with the least amount of effort.

As the new generation of ultra-lightweight rigid manual wheelchairs, Nitrum is revolutionary with many innovative features and stylish designs. Nitrum launched in other markets earlier this year and has already won an award in the UK for pushing the boundaries and continuing innovation.

The patented ovalized frame tubing made of premium aerospace-grade 7020 aluminum significantly contributes to the light weight. Nitrum is available in an everyday configuration from a weight starting at 18.3 lbs. Specially heat treated using Sunrise Medical's signature ShapeLoc technology, hand welded components, innovative backrest, and other feature designs are all dedicated to minimizing the weight while enhancing the stiffness and performance.

Instead of multiple welded parts, the newly patented caster link is one hollow forged component. Stronger, lighter, and completely adjustable, the caster link can be personally tailored for precise handling and the very best in turning and propulsion efficiency.

Nitrum is also packed with many other great user-inspired innovations and new features, like the first integrated LEDs, which allows the removal of batteries for easy charging or reducing weight. The unique, newly patented twist-to-lock bar allows users to fold, lift, and load the Nitrum into a car with just one hand. The block-and-tackle seat upholstery requires only minimal effort for tensioning and individual adjustment. In addition, the completely redesigned compact wheel lock is more durable and transfer-friendly, and the direct-mount version can further reduce weight.

"Our product development team includes very experienced designers and engineers who are long-term wheelchair users themselves. We collect user feedback from a large variety of backgrounds worldwide. We involve well-qualified internal and external clinical experts in extensive research."

Sunrise Medical's group CEO Thomas Babacan commented, "The valuable feedback from our customers has significantly influenced and advanced our development of Nitrum. We make sure that we consider all the finest details in our designs and innovations, and we are confident you will feel the differences and benefits."

With one of the largest selections available in the industry, users can express their personal styles with extensive choices of colored upholstery trim, anodized caster wheels & forks, painted handrims, frame graphics, and color options.

With the launch of Nitrum, Sunrise Medical is also bringing the user experiences to a whole new level, pioneering with leading edge digital tools like a 3D online visualizer and Augmented Reality.
